Samuel Berg of Oakdale completes service term with Conservation Corps Minnesota
Samuel Berg of Oakdale recently completed an eight-month service term with Conservation Corps Minnesota, a nonprofit that engages young people in hands-on service managing natural resources and responding to disasters. Berg served on a crew with five other AmeriCorps members in Fergus Falls. He completed habitat restoration projects in Itasca State Park, Lake Bemidji State Park, Paul Bunyan State Forest, Chippewa National Forest and other public lands in the area. During the 2013 service term, AmeriCorps members conducted prescribed burns to restore 7255 acres of prairie, planted 6495 trees, suppressed 25,570 acres of wildfire, removed 3430 acres of invasive species and constructed or improved 83 miles of trail in northwest Minnesota.
