East Sider Ray Widstrand undergoes emergency surgery
Well on his way to recovery, 27-year-old Ray Widstrand has recently hit a roadbump.
According to his CaringBridge website, he was re-admitted to Regions hospital on Sunday, Dec. 15 after feeling pressure on the right side of his head.
"This morning, we were told that Ray's body is rejecting the bone flaps that were put back in on Nov. 6," the site reads.
According to the site, he was rushed to the emergency room and underwent an emergency craniotomy on Monday, Dec. 16.
At press time, Regions staff confirmed that Widstrand was in the hospital. He was listed in "fair" condition.
Widstrand was attacked while walking near his home in the Railroad Island neighborhood, near the intersections of Payne and Minnehaha avenues. He suffered traumatic injuries, including brain swelling. He had since seen a slow recovery, regaining the ability to walk, according to his CaringBridge website.
"Please keep Ray in your thoughts and prayers this morning," the site reads.
