Reservations now open for picnic facilities in Ramsey County Parks

While it’s a big chilly to think about summer picnics, reservations for picnic shelters and pavilions within the Ramsey County parks system are now open for the 2014 season. Reservations will be accepted in person or by mail on a first-come, first-served basis at the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation administrative office, 2015 North Van Dyke St., Maplewood. Standard hours for phone, mail and in-person reservations are 8 a.m.  to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The 2014 picnic season will run May 3 to Sept. 29. Picnics may start as early as 11 a.m.

Anyone organizing an event that includes a pig roast, amplified music or microphone, extended hours, carnival activities, race events or similar components must apply for a special use permit. Permit applications are available on the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation website at http://parks.co.ramsey.mn.us. Paper copies are also be available.

Beginning this year, Ramsey County Parks and Recreation will accept picnic reservations 12 months in advance of the reservation date. Reservations for community events will be accepted 13 months in advance.

More information on the reservation process, including rental fees, facility locations and a list of pre-registered 2014 community events, is available at http://parks.co.ramsey.mn.us.
