By placing four competitors in the top eight, the Roseville Area High School girls won the Section 5 Nordic ski racing team title and advances to this week’s state meet. The Raiders amassed 382 points to beat runner-up Irondale by 12.

Senior Caroline Brisbois led the way for Roseville with a second-place finish in the pursuit standings. Brisbois tied for first in the skate race and was second in the classic race.

Roseville’s top four also consisted of sophomore Hanna Torvi, who finished fifth overall; senior Emily Dyson, who took seventh; and freshman Naomi Boehm, who was eighth.

Also competing in the section meet for Roseville were eighth-grader Samantha Kurkowski and seniors Hannah Foster and Molly Quinlan.

Roseville’s boys team wound up fifth but will be represented at state. Senior Wilson Pietruszewski’s 10th-place finish was good enough to secure him a state berth.

Andover captured the boys section team title.

The state meet is Thursday at Giants Ridge in Biwabik. The boys’ races start at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. while the girls begin at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
