North High School student, Oakdale resident Alexander Barette nominated for admission to U.S. Naval Academy

On Feb. 25, U.S. Senator Al Franken announced his nomination of North High School student and Oakdale resident Alexander Barette for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy. If chosen for an appointment by the academy, Barrette, the son of Amy Wegner, would be part of the U.S. Naval Academy class of 2018 and would enter this summer. Barette participates in both cross country and track at North High and has served as a volunteer at the local VFW. “I am very pleased to nominate Alexander Barrette to the U.S. Naval Academy,” Franken said in a statement. “I have no doubt that Alexander has the ability to excel at the U.S. Naval Academy and become a successful future leader in our nation’s military.”
