SCORE National Leadership Team recognizes New Brighton’s Phil Kruger

The SCORE National Leadership Team would like to formally recognize New Brighton’s Phil Kruger, St. Paul SCORE mentor for his effort, leadership and support of SCORE’s Sandy Recovery Project. In New Jersey, Phil and other mentors from around the country provided educational assistance on disaster preparedness, financial relief options, and also strengthened SCORE’s New Jersey small business presence. With 25 years as a consultant helping small businesses, Phil knew he would be the right man for the job when SCORE asked its volunteer mentors for help jump starting its Atlantic County Hurricane Sandy Relief Project. Traveling to New Jersey during the first week of June, Phil was part of the first wave of volunteers to arrive in the area. He knew that his group needed to establish a system that would remain for the duration of the project; they needed to figure out a plan. “We had no clients and no way to reach clients, but we figured out ways to reach them,” Phil said.  “We had a lot of meetings and did a lot of planning. I’m most satisfied with the people that we were able to help apply for grants; we helped them figure out the best ways to recover.” One of the biggest thrills for Phil was meeting and working with SCORE mentors from across the country. Phil Kruger has been volunteering for the SCORE for four years and is part of the St. Paul MN chapter.
