Letter: 'Requesting city wide meeting'

To the editor:

Once again I respectfully request that a Lake Elmo City wide meeting be held to update all the residents on the fundamental transformation of the City of Lake Elmo. In addition, it would give our local elected and appointed officials the opportunity to meet their constituents.

When I requested a City Wide meeting at the Lake Elmo Council meeting in February I was later informed that the city communicates with e-mail and a newsletter and a meeting for all the residents was NO LONGER necessary. Yes, various types of electronic and hardcopy communication are available, yet I continue to think that reaching out on a personal basis for a city wide meeting is appropriate to inform the current residents of the fundamental changes and associated costs that are being planned and implemented by our elected and appointed council would be welcome.

Recently, a large glossy type post card was mailed out announcing:  Free Seminar:   Lake Elmo’s Newest Developments  coming fall of 2014   April 30th 6:30 to 8pm at Lake Elmo City Hall  Free Food and Beverages. City Hall? If a Seminar is necessary have it at Gorman’s Restaurant, the Lake Elmo Inn Event Center or the Machine Shed not City Hall. I sincerely hope that this has been rescheduled to a different location.
