Four Boy Scouts from Troop 9419 of Arden Hills recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Russell Silvis, Zachariah Litzinger, Daniel Kroll and Colin Catlin celebrated their achievements together at a court of honor on March 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arden Hills.

During the ceremony they received their Eagle awards and were honored for their dedication and hard work on the trail to earning this prestigious rank. According to Scott Smith, Scoutmaster of the troop, each candidate earned at least 21 merit badges and successfully completed a community or church-related service project to earn the award. All four young men are seniors at Mounds View High School and each has been involved in Boy Scouting since elementary school.

• Russell Silvis completed a project involving the renovation of nine wooden park benches in Arden Hills and removal of graffiti from already renovated benches. In addition to the Eagle award, Silvis is the recipient of both a bronze and gold Eagle Palm. Each palm involves further service to the troop and earning an additional five merit badges. He is also an assistant scoutmaster for the troop and spends his time working with the cub scouts of Pack 9419. Silvis has been accepted into the College of Design at Iowa State University.

• Zachariah Litzinger’s Eagle project involved supervising a group of volunteers in designing and building a garden bed surrounding signage at Langton Lake Park in Roseville. He will be a freshman next year at University of Minnesota, Morris.

• Daniel Kroll organized the construction of two rolling carts for the storage of supplies for the Sunday school and preschool at Messiah Lutheran Church in Mounds View. Next year Daniel plans to major in computer information systems as a freshman at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

• Colin Catlin worked on erosion prevention and other improvements to the unpaved trails in Tony Schmidt Park. He is planning on majoring in biology next year at University of Minnesota.
