Shoplifting
It’s called the five-finger discount when you walk out with three bottles of spirits concealed in your clothing like the man did April 21 in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue. The loss was estimated at $70.

Theft
A 2002 Ford valued at $3,000 went missing April 22 from an underground garage of an apartment complex in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue.

He stole a pack of cigarettes from a convenience store in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue April 25, but employees got his license plate information. The 36-year-old man was located, identified and cited for the $7.48 theft.

A couple of petty thieves, and they were a couple, took products from a convenience store in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue and left without paying --the male pocketing cigarettes and the woman grabbing chips and crackers. License information was obtained and an investigation continues.

Two plates required
She only had one license plate, but she did have some marijuana. However, the requirement is two license plates and no marijuana. A 20-year-old was cited for the two offenses April 27 at Larpenteur Avenue and Saint Mary’s Street.

Arrests

More reckless driving and racing in Lauderdale. This time it was a pair of Dale Earnhardt Jr. wanabees pulled over at Hwy. 280 and Como Avenue on April 26. The 20- and 21-year-old males were cited and released.

Bomb threat
Parents checking their 14-year-old Roseville middle-school student’s incoming cell phone messages found a bomb threat about 10 p.m. May 1. Their teen did not take the tweet seriously, but his parents immediately called 911. The more the authorities looked into the Twitter message, the more the threat seemed non-viable. The IPS showed the threat came from an out-of-state 14-year-old and was not date-specific. The suspect was found to be a “gamer” and the threat continued to be de-escalated, seemingly related to a violent video game and involving no weapon or criminal history on the part of the suspect. An investigator for the Ramsey County Sheriff’s department said the parents “did exactly what they should have in immediately reporting the threat.” The out-of-state student, whose location was not released, remains under investigation by his local authorities.

Theft
Shoppers may be strapping on sandals, but retail store buyers are already ordering boots and shovels. And the bad guys are thinking ahead as well. A Moose brand ATV plow was reported stolen May 3 from the scene of a mobile home fire that occurred in late March. The plow, stored next to a shed, was valued at $600.
