1920 - 2014
Mary Eva Hipp (Skalsky), age 93, formerly of New Brighton, died May 9, surrounded by her family at the Sunnyside Nursing Home in Cloquet, Minn. She was born Nov. 24, 1920 in Blue Grass, ND, the daughter of Mike and Barbara (Zahn) Skalsky. Mary was raised and educated in the Glen Ullin, ND area. She spent most of her life in New Brighton with her husband, Peter Hipp, and their four children, as a devoted housewife and mother.
Mary is survived by her four children: Leroy Hipp (Betty Lee) of Mahtomedi, Barbara (Ron) Thuringer of Lake St. Croix Beach, David Hipp of Esko, and Gary Hipp of Duluth; 13 grandchildren;
16 great-grandchildren; and 1 greatgreat grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, four sisters, and husband. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet, on May 16. A reception for
friends and family was held at the Proctor Blackwoods following the service. Mary was cremated and set to rest in the St. John the Baptist Cemetery in New Brighton, next to her husband of more than 50 years, Peter Hipp,
