House call
There are bad drivers, and then there are really bad drivers. A 26-year-old man was arrested May 11 at Snelling and Hoyt avenues and charged with driving into a house, fleeing police in a motor vehicle, obstructing the legal process, fleeing police on foot, driving after license, suspension, operating an unregistered vehicle and no proof of insurance. The man was also wanted on a Washington County felony warrant for domestic assault. The suspect was booked at the Ramsey County Jail.

Two-for-one
While arresting a 24-year-old man on an outstanding felony warrant for a second degree assault probation violation, police also nabbed a 22-year-old man on a Hennepin County warrant for theft. Both men were transported to the Hennepin County Jail.

Texting while driving
A sober woman was arrested May 9 at Snelling and Larpenteur avenues for texting while driving. Driving a vehicle while texting is six times more dangerous than driving while intoxicated, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Arrest
Checking on a “suspicious vehicle” parked in the 100 block of Lake Street the late morning of May 20, a deputy woke the man in the driver’s seat. The 28-year-old, who gave his address as the Union Gospel Mission in St. Paul, said the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe belonged “to a friend” but the deputy found it was on a “hot sheet,” or list of stolen cars. The suspect was booked at the Ramsey County Jail on a charge of felony possession of stolen property.

Assaulted and jailed
A 50-year-old man reported he was punched and kicked May 14 at a Rice Street trailer park. He was able to identify two male suspects--a 46-year-old from Maplewood and a 56-year-old from Woodbury--who kept repeating “It’s payback time,” he said, during the assault. The victim said he owed the pair some money. Deputies are looking for the suspects. The victim, himself wanted on a Washington County felony warrant for receiving stolen property, was booked at the jail.

Recovered
A 2001 trailer-mounted Suntracker pontoon boat with a 50-horsepower Mercury motor, stolen May 18 from a boat rental storage yard in the 3000 block of Country Drive May 18, was recovered the next day, still on the trailer which had a flat tire. Fingerprints were found on the $10,000 rig and an investigation is underway.
