Arrests
It was his car, but he didn’t have insurance. And he also had an unnamed equipment violation, such as a loud muffler or a burned out light, and didn’t want to drive. No problem, even though her license was suspended, she offered to drive. These were not kids—he’s 56 and she’s 48. The vehicle was pulled over at Larpenteur and Snelling avenues on May 12. Citations—for driving after license suspension, allowing the operation of an uninsured vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle and the equipment violation—were handed out all around.

A 33-year-old man was charged with driving after license suspension and a registration violation May 14 after he was pulled over at Larpenteur Avenue and Fry Street. The big offense, however, was felony possession of marijuana—by some definitions in excess of 50 kilos—and which earned him a trip to the Ramsey County Jail.

Criminal damage to property
A tenant left two items, valued at a total of $10, in a washing machine overnight May 14 at the apartment building in the 1400 block of Larpenteur Avenue. The next morning she found the coin box destroyed, the quarters gone and her laundry missing. Damage to the machine was estimated at $400.

Booked
A 26-year-old man pulled over at Hwy. 280 and Larpenteur Avenue on May 15 was identified as wanted on a felony warrant for a release violation by Oak Park Heights Corrections. In addition he was charged with false information to police and obstruction of the legal process.

Driving complaint
A driver in the area of Hwy. 280 and Como Avenue contacted police May 13 and reported poor driving conduct by another driver, later signing a citizen’s arrest against the offender. Police advised the suspect that he would be receiving a citation for careless driving in the mail.

Matching pair
No insurance and a cracked windshield—they go together like identical twins. Once the officer saw the damaged windshield at Hwy. 280 and Broadway Street N.E. May 17, he had probable cause to pull the vehicle over and cite the owner, a 22-year-old female passenger, for the violations. The driver, a 24-year-old man, was cited for driving after license revocation.

Arrests
An out-of-control youth destroyed a loading pallet outside Capitol View Alternative Learning Center May 19 in the first block of County Road B2. The 16-year-old Columbia Heights youth also pushed and shoved a classmate, pounded on the doors and windows, swore a blue streak and was generally disruptive. He was transported to the Ramsey County Juvenile Detention Center on fifth-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges.

Running over a curb—now there’s probable cause to get pulled over and the 32-year-old man was, in the 2700 block of Jessica Court. He was booked at the jail May 25 on a charge of felony first-degree DWI, pending the results of a urine test. A DWI charge can reach felony level if it’s the third impaired driving charge within ten years.
