New businesses in the works in West St. Paul
Two business, the 5-8 Club and L.A. Fitness, are coming to West St. Paul, the city recently announced.
The 5-8 Club will soon call South Robert Street home. Construction is underway on the 3,754-square-foot restaurant, which will include outdoor seating.
The 5-8 Club is expected to open in early July.
The 5-8 Club started as a 1920s speakeasy. It’s now famous for its Juicy Lucy cheeseburgers.
The former West Side Lanes bowling alley site was sold to Aurora Investments for $1.3 million, making way for a new L.A. Fitness Center.
Aurora Investments paid for half of the cost of demolition of the old building last fall.
The city entered into a shared parking agreement, too, to allow L.A. Fitness some additional parking at the former A to Z Rental property.
Phase 1 of the project has already started with construction of a 12,000-square-foot retail space south of the existing multi-tenant building.
Phase 2 includes construction of a 35,000-square-foot health club. The second phase depends on the completion of the first phase, as well as the weather.
