Joni Hagebock named Somerset Elementary School’s next principal
West St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan Area Schools recently named Joni Hagebock as the next principal of Somerset Elementary School.
Hagebock has been the principal of Friendly Hills Middle School since 2007. She starts in her new role July 1.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Friendly Hills and I am grateful to have worked with many wonderful teachers, staff members, students and families over the past seven years,” Hagebock said in a statement. “I am looking forward to this new opportunity at Somerset and continuing to be a part of School District 197.”
Throughout her time at Friendly Hills, Hagebock has built a track record for implementing research-based, student-focused programs, such as Advancement Via Individual Determination and Project Lead the Way. She focused on academic achievement through the development of a caring school culture through programs, such as Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support and the 4Rs: relationships, respect, responsibility and readiness.
Over the past several years, Hagebock has also introduced numerous service-learning opportunities at Friendly Hills, such as Make a Difference Day, which provides volunteer experiences for students.
“Ms. Hagebock is an outstanding leader who is respected by students, staff, parents, and colleagues for her passion for educational excellence and her strong background in curriculum and instruction,” said Superintendent Nancy Allen-Mastro in a statment. “She is an effective communicator who will take time to get to know the Somerset community and embrace the school’s traditions, while also exploring new ideas and opportunities.”
Hagebock earned a bachelor’s degree in English education at St. Olaf College in Northfield. She earned a master’s degree of science in curriculum and instruction and a specialist in educational administration (principal K-12 license) degree at Minnesota State University-Mankato.
On June 16, Somerset Principal Sara Palodichuk announced that she accepted a position as the principal of Middleton Elementary in South Washington County Public Schools for the 2014-15 school year.
School District 197 is now looking for a new principal for Friendly Hills Middle School. The process should be completed by the end of July.
