These patriotic cookies will shine at any Independence Day party

Looking to add a few more stars to your stars-and-stripes celebration? Try baking a batch of these Lemon Star Cookies with Fresh Berries to add a dash of red, white and blue to your Fourth of July festivities.

Lemon Stars with Fresh Berries

1 (16.5 ounce) chub sugar cookie dough
1 (8 ounce) package Neufchâtel Cheese, softened
1/2 cup  powdered sugar
1 cup frozen lite whipped topping, thawed
1/2 cup lemon curd
fresh blueberries & raspberries
fresh lemon peel, optional

1. Preheat oven to 375°F
2. Roll dough out to 1/4-inch thick. Using a star cookie cutter, cut out cookies; place on large baking sheets. Bake 7 to 8 minutes. Cool on baking sheet 1 minute. Remove to cooling rack; cool completely.
3. Place Neufchâtel and sugar in a large bowl; using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat until light and fluffy. Add whipped topping and lemon curd; mix until just combined.
4. Spread cookies with cheese mixture.
5. Top with berries. Garnish with lemon peel, if desired.

Lemon Curd can be found in the jelly aisle.
Number of cookies vary depending on size of cookie cutter.
A 3-inch star cookie cutter will yield 16 or more cookies.
