Police searching for man who crashed van and fled

Children were left in vehicle

Police are searching for 45-year-old Earl Ward of St. Paul, whom they say crashed a van in a construction hole while driving with two of his children in the car.

Ward reportedly left the scene, leaving his injured kids in the car.

St. Paul police showed up at the scene of the mishap at Hazel Street and Mechanic Avenue around 3:20 a.m. on July 1. They found two kids, ages 8 and 14, injured inside the van, which was sitting in a street construction hole.

The two kids were taken out of the vehicle and brought to Regions Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are looking into what occurred leading up to the incident.

Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating Ward in connection with this incident. Police encourage anyone with information to call the St. Paul Police Traffic Unit at 651-266-5729.
