Bad days
It wasn’t as bad as waking up in a tub of ice with a missing kidney, but for this 21-year-old, it was still a very bad day. The woman, driving a stolen car containing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia when she was pulled over June 26 in the 1300 block of Larpenteur Avenue, was jailed for felony possession of stolen property as well as a warrant issued for her arrest for a parole violation on an aggravated assault charge.

It was a fool’s errand, but apparently he was the man for the job. Answering an armed robbery call on June 23, officers were unable to find the caller who was possibly the victim. That person, a 21-year-old, realizing he would be arrested for violating a no-contact order because he was in the apartment of the person who had the order against him, fled the scene before police arrived. An investigation continues.

Looking for trouble
If you’re looking for trouble, you’ll probably find it. A 27-year-old with one license plate and a cracked windshield was pulled over June 25 at Hamline and Garden avenues. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license.

Pull me over
Police know that the usual “pull-me-over” beacon, the cracked windshield, is a leading indicator of no insurance, because nearly all policies cover the repair or replacement of cracked windshields. The 19-year-old woman was stopped June 27 at Hamline and Larpenteur avenues and cited for no insurance and a cracked windshield.

Assault
Maybe we should all just toughen up a little... a 20-year-old reported June 28 that he was bitten on the finger by a 25-year-old woman during a bout of drinking and arguing. The guy with the sore finger was cited for underage consumption.

Theft
An 86-year-old woman who keeps serious cash in her unlocked vehicle in her unlocked garage reported the theft of $80 on June 27. Bulletin to prowlers: Sorry folks, we’re not providing a location on this one.

Burglary
A fun-starved burglar broke the side window to a trailer home on Little Circle Drive June 18, crawled inside and made off with a Wii gaming system valued at $200.

Fruit flies in Little Canada
A cart, allegedly in control of a trio of shoppers in a grocery store parking lot June 10 in the 2300 block of Rice Street, rolled into a vehicle causing minor damage to a front fender. The vehicle owner saw the incident and approached the suspects. A 45-year-old suspect yelled, “You’re messing with the wrong black woman, I’ll shoot your ass!” according to the criminal complaint. The suspect then began throwing fruit. The strawberries were in the nuisance category, but the watermelon, now that caused some damage. Adding insult to injury, a second suspect, a 47-year-old woman, frightened the driver and her nine-year-old son by dropping her drawers, exposing her rear end, and yelling profanities. A third suspect, a 19-year-old male, probably wondered how he got involved in all of this. The three, all from St. Paul, are scheduled to appear in district court later this month on charges of gross misdemeanor third-degree riot and misdemeanor charges of damage to property, fifth degree assault and disorderly conduct.

Orange glow
An Arcade Street resident was awakened in the night June 24 by an “orange glow” in her front yard, resulting from a three foot-by-six foot pile of her belongings that had been set on fire. The Little Canada Fire Department was quickly on the scene. The items in the pile were either going to be thrown out or donated, the 39-year-old resident said. She blames the blaze on her ex-husband against whom she had recently filed a harassment order.
