Free spirits
A thief fled a liquor store July 16 in the 1500 block of Larpenteur Avenue with three bottles of spirits. When the thief saw an employee hot on his trail, he let him have it with one bottle, but missed. The thief got away with the two bottles, valued at $49. The third bottle, apparently unharmed in the pursuit, was dusted off and returned to the shelf.

Partners in crime
The 36-year-old male owner of a vehicle was arrested July 19 at Snelling and Larpenteur avenues for allowing the illegal operation of an uninsured vehicle. The 39-year-old female driver of the vehicle was arrested for driving after license revocation and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Armed robbery
A pair of suspects really were thinking outside the bun when they decided to rob a Mexican restaurant in the 3300 block of Rice Street the night of July 1. They herded three employees into the basement and tied two of them up. A male suspect forced the third to open the safe by brandishing a handgun. The suspects were described as a pair in their 20s. One suspect was described as a black, six-foot tall male weighing about 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark windbreaker and a pair of distinctive, cobalt blue tennis shoes. The second suspect was described as a “lighter-skinned” black female about five-foot five-inches tall. The pair fled with an undetermined amount of cash. No injuries were reported.

Drunk at work
“He came home from work drunk,” according to his current girlfriend, and began talking about a new girlfriend of his. That got things going. In the ensuing melee, the 38-year-old Little Canada man began waving a knife in front of his 33-year-old girlfriend and her 16-year-old daughter, making the comment, “I’m going to kill you bitches,” then punched them. He then punched their fish tank, smashing it and cutting his arm. Witnesses called 911 and the man was taken to jail July 29 on felony aggravated domestic assault and terrorisic threat charges with an intermediate stop at Regions to get sewn up. No word on the fish.

Your flippant attempt at humor in "drunk at work" is not appreciated. Domestic violence is not a joke, and I seriously doubt the woman who was victimized here is laughing.
