Straw Bale Gardens Education Day at the State Fair Grounds 4-26

This is a free event with free parking to be held from 9am to 3pm on Saturday, April 26th, at the State Fair Grounds.  Joel Karsten, a Roseville native and author of the NYT best selling book "Straw Bale Gardens" will offer short seminars at the top of  every hour, and will sign books.

May Day 5K raises scholarships for Simley students 5-03

The public is invited to participate in the 16th annual B.E.S.T. Foundation’s May Day 5K to raise money for Simley High School students. This year’s May Day 5K will be held on Saturday, May 3, at the Inver Grove Heights Community Center/National Guard Armory. Registration begins  at 7:30 am.

The Dakota County Historical Society is celebrating 75 years 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, by holding a Big Band Swing Dance at the Rosemount Community Center, 13885 S. Robert Trail, Rosemount. The event’s theme is the “Great Movies of 1939 - The Biggest Year in Hollywood’s History.”

Orchestra and Concerto-Aria winners Concert 5-06

The University of Northwestern – St. Paul Department of Music invites you to the Orchestra Concert with Concerto-Aria winners on Tuesday, May 6, at 7:30 p.m. in Maranatha Hall.  The winners of the February Concerto-Aria competition, Emily Baltzer, piano, and Anthony Potts, baritone, will perform as featured guest artists with the Orchestra.  The Orchestra will also perform Chabrier’s “Fête Polonaise” from the opera Le Roi malgré lui and Debussy’s Petite Suite. The concert is free and open to the public.

Symphonic Band Conceret 5-02

The University of Northwestern – St. Paul Department of Music invites you to the Symphonic Band Concert on Friday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Maranatha Hall.  Conducted by John S. Herlihy, the Symphonic Band will perform Jaques Offenbach’s Overture to Orpheus in the Underworld and Conversations with the Night by Andrew Boysen, Jr. The program will conclude with the wind band classic La Fiesta Mexicana by H. Owen Reed. The concert is free and open to the public.
