Jerry J. Sankot, age 64, of New Brighton, died on March 14, 2015. He was born on September 17, 1950, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Frank and Eleanor Sankot. Jerry earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Iowa State University, as well as associate’s degrees in clock repair and watch repair. He was a licensed professional engineer and a member of the ASQC/ASQ, the Minnesota Clockmakers Guild and the Minnesota NAWCC-OT Lang Chapter. He last worked for EcoWater in Woodbury. Jerry was also a member of the MSUS Church community. He had struggled with his health since a 2003 diagnosis of multiple brain tumors.

The flash of the brass instruments, the pounding of the drums, the trim green-and-white uniforms and precision stepping have made the Hill-Murray band a source of pride for alumni and neighbors for years at games and along parade routes.
