Having read the Oakdale-Lake Elmo Review Wednesday May 21st article about the Lake Elmo neighborhood parks meeting schedule, I wish to respectfully request that the city of Lake Elmo also have a citywide meeting for all residents that addresses the total transformation of the city to everyone at the same time.
I would like to say thank you to Representative Peter Fischer for the column describing an excellent bill that will give help to many families. As an AARP Advocate for Seniors, I am very interested in fairness for all members of the family. As a women born the year a group of very brave ladies gained the right for women to vote, I appreciate that right.
Representative Peter Fischer was a co-author on the bill that put the expensive and failing MNSure into place. The problems with MNSure are widely known: low enrollment numbers, an unbalanced mix of private plans and fully subsidized public plans, $26,000 in bonuses to executives prior to launch, the dissemination of 1600 private social security numbers, extremely long call center wait times and website inaccessibility.
I am a school counselor at Park High School, and I was happy to learn that Gov. Mark Dayton proclaimed Feb. 3-7 “School Counseling Week.”
Minnesota has one school counselor for every 792 students, ranking it 48th in the nation, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
Once again we are starting a new year, with new City Council leadership. I have ever confidence we have a good team in charge. I do thank Will for all he accomplished as Mayor during his four years. Maplewood Mall in particular has improved so much and I do appreciate the environmental improvements there for watershed.
