In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 30, police arrested a man who allegedly attempted to force entry into a home in New Brighton.
34-year-old Christopher Charles Patterson of Hopkins allegedly rang the doorbell of a home on the 600 block of Riviera Drive four times around 3:30 a.m.
County deposits quarter million in cash for building
Despite having its bid passed up in October for being too low, Ramsey County recently signed a letter of intent to purchase the Vadnais Heights Sports Center and made a $250,000 deposit on the building.
The Spring Lake Park, Blaine, Mounds View (SBM) Fire Department has now founded a Fire Explorer Post. Exploring is a program run through a branch of the Boy Scouts of America. The Post will engage youth ages 14-20 in a unique opportunity not found through traditional education. The program focuses on exploring the fields of firefighting, emergency medicine, and public safety.
The New Brighton Department of Public Safety is seeking the public's help in identifying suspects from a recent robbery and burglary.
NBDPS Deputy Director Tony Paetznick said officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Circle K gas station on the corner of Silver Lake Road and West County Road E at approximately 5:54 a.m. Friday, March 28. Officers searched the area with a K-9, but were unable to locate the suspects.
Due to extreme frost conditions in the metro area this season, property owners in New Brighton and other metro cities have experienced frozen water services. City officials are asking residents to periodically check the temperature of water coming from their faucets. If the temperature is 40 degrees or colder, you should contact the Public Works Department.
In a 3-2 vote, the Vadnais Heights City Council approved an application submitted by Metro Transit for a site plan, special use permit and preliminary plat to build a commuter bus park and ride facility at 850 East County Road E. Council members Terry Nyblom and Craig Johnson voted against the motion at the March 5 council meeting.

At approximately 10:20 this morning officers from the New Brighton Department of Public Safety (NBDPS) were dispatched to the 2700 block of West County Road H for a report of an interrupted home burglary that had occurred 10 minutes prior.
Newly elected New Brighton City Council member Brain Strub wants to hear from residents and has devised a way to do that, while getting in some exercise outdoors.
Strub has announced the first of his planned quarterly “skate, bike, run, walk & roll with your city council member” public meetings.
Two people were treated at an area hospital for minor smoke inhalation in the early morning hours of Jan. 14 following a second floor apartment fire in the 1000 block of West County Road D in New Brighton.

While it’s a big chilly to think about summer picnics, reservations for picnic shelters and pavilions within the Ramsey County parks system are now open for the 2014 season. Reservations will be accepted in person or by mail on a first-come, first-served basis at the Ramsey County Parks and Recreation administrative office, 2015 North Van Dyke St., Maplewood. Standard hours for phone, mail and in-person reservations are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The 2014 picnic season will run May 3 to Sept. 29. Picnics may start as early as 11 a.m.
