Rain that didn't let up made for a soggy Homecoming for the Hill-Murray players, students and alumni Friday, Sept. 18.
And the outcome of the game — a 9-0 loss to rival North High — certainly didn't improve matters for the Pioneers as they plowed their way through the mud for four quarters.

Week five of the 2014 football season proved to be less than fruitful for area teams. Homecoming festivities at both Hill-Murray and North High were dampened by losses Friday, Sept. 26.
Toward the end of their season, the Simley Spartan regrouped and, rolling with momentum, tore through the Section 4AAA girls basketball finals to gain their third trip to the State Girls Class AAA Basketball classic.
Then, by the luck of the draw — five teams are seeded and three are randomly selected for opponents — the Spartans drew the number one seed Park Center as a 6 p.m., March 18 opponent at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis.

The Simley High School wrestling team proved they were the No. 1 Class AA wrestling team in the state in dominating fashion last weekend.
The Spartans opened the Minnesota State Class AA Wrestling Team Tournament against No. 8-ranked Dawson-Boyd/Lac qui Parle/Montevideo United.
The Spartans flattened United by winning 10 of the 14 weight classes. The final score was 46-12.

North misses injured Ross
The Simley Spartans traveled to the Hal Norgard Gymnasium Saturday, Feb. 8, for a Classic Suburban Conference girls basketball game against the North Polars.
The Polars were without a key player -- ninth-grader Jolisa Ross, who was hospitalized in Minneapolis with a severely injured foot.
