All six Bulletin-area prep soccer teams have reached the final week of the regular season. The section playoffs begin next week so for most of them this week provides a final tune-up prior to the post-season.
While the Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony Village girls soccer team finished below .500 in its first year in the Northwest Suburban Conference last year, the Panthers competed well and are eager to build on that this fall.

There is a decent amount of turnover in terms of the teams competing in this week's Class AAA state true team track and field meet. Eight teams (five boys and three girls) that competed in last year's meet failed to qualify this season.
All three Bulletin-area high schools have wrestlers taking part in the Section 5AAA individual tournament on Saturday at Osseo High School. The participants will be trying to qualify for the state tournament.
For the second year in a row and third time in four years, the Mounds View High School girls hockey team will face Blaine in the Section 5AA playoffs. The Mustangs and Bengals meet in the section semifinals on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

For residents of the northern states, the turning of the calendar to February usually means the worst of winter is behind them. For prep Nordic skiers in Minnesota, it means the biggest competition of the season is only days away.
